Review of Contemporary and Historic Panerai Watches  posté le mardi 15 septembre 2009 11:30

If you are a sportsman or person related with sports, and you have a passion for watches, definitely Panerai watches are your ultimate choice. These watches have an inbuilt high range water resistance capacity, it works well underwater as it was primarily created for the Italian navy. Due to its water resistance, shock resistance with excellent manufacturing, it has won the people's heart.

Panerai Watches are beautiful watches. If you're consider getting a watch for diving but want to get something a little more elegant than Tag Heuer, Rolex, or Seconda, I'd recommend taking a look at Panerai watch. Below are my thoughts on the Panerai Watches, including the Panerai Contemporary which we recently purchased.

The History

Panerai has been known for quality watches since the company's beginnings back in 1860 in Italy: Florence to be exact. In 1900, the company's reputation gained them the award of being the supplier of the Radiomir wrist watch to the navy of Italy.

Panerai Historic Collection

These watches are rugged, with a water tight resistance rating up to 300 meters. An intersting features about the Historic Panerai watches is how the back of the watch is see through. The see through sapphire crystal enables you to see through to the inner craftsmanship of the watch. Lastly, all the historic watches in this Panerai collection come with your choice of either a leather or an alligator strap. These are a throwback to when diving watches came in oiled leather straps

Panerai Contemporary Collection

The Panerai Contemporary Collection is amazing, with the Luminor Submerisible being the most amazing of the bunch, in my opinion. The Luminor Marina Automatic comes with steel or titanium casing. There is no winding as the movement is automatic, although you do miss the power reserve of the historic watches. The Panerai Contemporary collection power reserve is only 42 hours. The back of the watch doens't have the sapphire see through crystal as the other historic collection does. Like the historic collection, the contemporary collection from Panerai has second hands at the 9 o clock position. But there is also a date window that is round rather than the usual rectangle: a unique feature.

All Panerai's, no matter which you buy, come with a lockdown winding crown arm, which is athe distinctive trademark of the Panerai watch company. These watches are the finest quality that can withstand just about anything you can throw at them. Quality and craftsmanship is the image of Panerai Watches.

I hope you've learned a lot about Panerai Watches.

Panerai Watches - Are They the Most Macho Watches?  posté le mardi 15 septembre 2009 11:28

Panerai watches are a perfect example of great engineering with excellent beauty. These watches are made from stainless steel and titanium, both the model 40 and 44 mm can take pressure under 300 meters underwater; with its Lumina facility meaning the watches are easily visible in darkness.

Panerai watches aren't the most well-known of men's watches but this esoteric brand is becoming highly desirable among men who want a watch that has masculinity written all over it, all be it, written in a fine, understated handwriting style.

Unlike some other, supposed, luxury watch manufacturers, Panerai only produces a limited number of watches each year, keeping its place in the very top echelon of Swiss watches.

Today, the company makes two lines of watches; the Historic Collection and the Contemporary Collection. The Historic Collection feature copies of classic designs with manual winding mechanisms while the Contemporary Collection has taken classic designs, updated them very slightly and given them automatic mechanical movements. Within these two collections, there are only three basic models, Luminor, Luminor Marina, and Radiomir watches.

There's no denying that Panerai watches are liked by men because of a certain machismo in their design. Of course, many men would deny that is why they've bought one, citing instead, the history and craftsmanship of these timepieces. Sure, but they also appeal to the 'action man' inside all red-blooded men don't they?

So, what makes them so macho? Well, for starters; Panerai don't do ladies watches, which kind of makes owning one feel like you're joining a men's only club. They're also big, typically with a 44 or 45mm wide case. The corundum glass is 3.5mm thick. And, most have a very chunky crown guard and a locking lever - originally developed to improve water resistance back in the days when these watches were actually used as dive watches. The crown guard has really become the trademark of Panerai watches.

While being a macho accessory, Panerai watches are for the thinking man. You won't find any vulgar subdials, boy-trying-to-be-a-man bezels or cheap gimmicks. They are understated timepieces. You get simple, unadorned dials, with simple, plain hands and discrete date apertures. What you get is what many can't appreciate; craftsmanship. They may be a macho watch but there aren't for Rambo; they're for the smooth, educated, urban but deadly James Bond type. They're for the thinking macho man. Does such a thing exist?

Panerai watches are very beautiful. Their large, chunky lines are subdued by their understated styling. You don't have to be macho to wear one; you just have to appreciate their subtle beauty.

Information On Breitling Watches VS Tag Heuer Watches  posté le mardi 08 septembre 2009 08:05

Before reading this article, please just consider somethings: How much brand name do you know? Have you ever experienced to buy a luxury watch? You know, there are lots of top branded watches in the world, such as Breitling, Chanel Watches, Gucci Watches, etc. All of these are warmly welcomed by celebrities and citizens, here I will compare Breitling Watches and Tag Heuer Watches, let you have a deeper understanding.

Breitling and Tag Heuer watches alike are incredibly luxurious and popular. It is understandable that these two admired timepiece manufacturers face such deep competition from each other and the loyal consumers.

Investing in such elegant accent pieces is rarely done on a whim. Customers want to be sure that their money, often a considerable amount, is being put towards a functional, impressive and aesthetically pleasing timepiece.

Choosing between the two luxury brands can be challenging, but by understanding the difference between the two, you may be able to make a more informed decision. In general, TagHeuer timepieces are less expensive than Breitling watches. Partly due to the price, Tag Heuer timepieces are much more common in many social circles when compared to Breitling watches. Many watch enthusiasts consider Tag Heuer timepieces to be much more basic when compared to Breitlings, so it is important to know what you are looking for and what you expect from your desired timepiece. This is one of the most important steps in making sure you get the correct and most fitting timepiece for you and your lifestyle.

Breitling Watches are particularly geared towards aviators and watch enthusiasts interested in having a timepiece with a lot of potential gadgets.

Tag Heuer Watches are great for everyday use and everyday wear. They are quality timepieces and attractive.

Breitling timepieces, for their part, are more glamorous and more generally suited for more professional lifestyles and occasions. If an individual has more money to spend on a timepiece, Breitling timepieces may be able to offer a more extensive selection.

Breitling and Tag watches are both very popular and competitive with each other, as are many watch manufacturers in the industry, but it is important to note that they offer very different things from their watch models.

It is significant that if you are looking for a luxury watch you should consider both brands as the are both high quality Swiss watch brands. They both have a huge following and they both are collectors items. Breitling watches have a larger collectors following then Tag watches but they both have a following. Did you ever see the tag commericals? They are different then the Breitling commercials. In general the major difference would be resale value. Even though that a tag can hold its value breitling does a much better job at that But to begin with its a more expensive watch in general.

A omparison - TAG Heuer Watches Versus Rolex Watches  posté le mardi 08 septembre 2009 08:04

For those of information what you have heard great things about TAG Heuer watches, and are hesitating to decide whether to buy a TAG watch or a Rolex, here is a comparison to clear up some common misconceptions about these brands. After inquiring with several luxury watch aficionados, I learned quite a bit about the technology, chronograph movement, and reliability of TAG watches vs. Rolex.

1.  Quality / Value:

Surprisingly, Rolex is not considered the best watch among high-end watch experts, but it is still the most recognized name brand among the general public. It is also not the most expensive watch. Both brands are known for making fine mechanical and quartz watches. If you are considering trading it in down the road, a Rolex may be a better choice, since it retains its intrinsic value and will be worth more than a Tag watch over time.

2.        Warranties and Service:

Both companies will give you a two year warranty on most models, and a three year warranty on others, but neither provides a lifetime warranty anymore. Service on either watch, if regularly worn, is usually needed on these watches every 4-5 years. Keep in mind, if you have your watch serviced, it will no longer be certified by COSC once someone has gone into the movement of the watch. It can only be re-certified if you send it back to Switzerland, which is almost never done.

3.        Diamonds:

Tag uses F to G color diamonds, and Rolex uses D color diamonds. Most models come with a two year warranty on the stones.

4.  Movement: Rolex watches use its own in-house movement on most models, which is of the self-winding variety. TAG watches use ETA movement, which is owned by Swatch. Both companies make quartz and mechanical versions, but it is important to understand the difference. Quartz is not only more accurate but it is likely to be more reliable over the long term. They are also cheaper than mechanical chronograph watches. Mechanical chronographs can be incredibly accurate, but they are not for everyone. This is because their self winding movements can only be activated by wearing them. As a result, they may lose accuracy if you frequently switch watches.

5.       Accuracy:

This depends on whether you prefer quartz or automatic movement. Quartz will be more accurate over time because it doesn't require movement for self-winding, but most chronograph wearers are more concerned with the workmanship and intrinsic value of a Swiss chronograph than they are with consistent accuracy.

6.      Appearance:

Rolex rarely changes the appearance of their watches, meaning a Rolex watch from the 70s will look very similar to one you would buy today. While this testament of their timeless appeal may attract loyal customers, others like to update their look from time to time. With Tag, newly released models look different every few years.

7.  Cost: A Rolex is generally more expensive than TAG watch, if you compare similar models, but one can often justify this when you consider that Rolex will retain its value over time.

In general, these information checked out how many of you may already know. Choosing a TAG Heuer watch versus a Rolex is really more a matter of personal taste.
