There is no winding as the movement is automatic, although you do miss the power reserve of the historic watches. The Panerai Contemporary collection power reserve is only 42 hours. The back of the watch doens't have the sapphire see through crystal as the other historic collection does. Like the historic collection, the contemporary collection from Panerai has second hands at the 9 o clock position. But there is also a date window that is round rather than the usual rectangle: a unique feature.

All Panerai's, no matter which you buy, come with a lockdown winding crown arm, which is athe distinctive trademark of the Panerai watch company. These watches are the finest quality that can withstand just about anything you can throw at them. Quality and craftsmanship is the image of Panerai Watches.
